Hydatisosis of subcutaneous tissue is uncommon even in geographic areas in which ecchinococcal infestation is frequent. We describe one such instance in a 61 year old man who presented with painless , fluctuant , mobile mass lesion in paraspinal region ( Figure 1). A preoperative diagnosis wasobtained by FNAC and CECT chest and abdomen revealed it to be a isolated lesion with no underlying lung and liver hydatid disease ( Figure 2). Patient underwent surgical extirpation of the same with uneventful recovery (Figure 3). One year follow up thereafter shows no local or systemic recurrence. The report highlights the rarity of the case with emphasis on the fact that surgeons need to be aware of such rare presentation when confronted with cystic dermal and subdermal lesions.
